Terac: the work, the pay and the screening
Terac is one of the 3 platforms this site tracks. Everything below comes from Terac's own public pages or from our check of its listings each morning.
Red Pen Jobs is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for Terac in any way, and we do not recruit on its behalf.

What Terac is
Terac describes itself as an expert marketplace: it connects verified domain experts to paid work from market research companies and human data companies.
We are not part of Terac, we do not recruit for it, and we are not its agent, representative or partner. How we earn from this sets out the one commercial link there is.
What the work involves
The 12 Terac listings open this morning cover 6 of the professions on this site.
- Sales and CRM specialists 3
- Software engineers 2
- Accountants and finance experts 1
- Generalists 1
- Machine learning engineers 1
- QA engineers 1
Most Terac listings are single paid sessions rather than ongoing projects: its own guide describes opportunities as either one-time (interviews or surveys) or project-based engagements. On the day we checked, nearly all were one-time interviews and surveys, with a small amount of AI evaluation work. It is contract work; Terac's terms say they create no employment relationship.
We list a Terac opportunity only when it states an hourly rate, or a fixed payment with an estimated duration we can turn into one. A one-time session paying a set amount is not a steady hourly income, and the rate shown is what the posting implies for that session.
What it pays
Across the 12 open Terac listings we track, listed rates span $2–210 an hour in US dollars, exactly as each posting states them, before anything the platform deducts. That is a span, not an average. The only pay figure we ever show is the one on the posting. We do not estimate, and we do not convert currency.
A listing and an opening are different things: one listing can be hiring many people. The 12 listings add up to 1,610 stated openings.
When and how Terac pays out for completed work is a separate question: see what we do not know.
How the screening works
Terac requires a verified government ID before you can apply; its guide says the application is locked until you do. Each opportunity then has its own screener: a short form, an AI voice interview Terac says takes 5 to 10 minutes, or a file upload. Screener questions typically take 2 to 5 minutes, and each opportunity allows one attempt.
Terac says you earn when a submission is approved. How long approval takes for a given study, we do not know.
Who can apply
You must be 18 or over. Terac says minimum qualifications typically mean undergraduate-level expertise, and that no prior AI experience is required.
Eligible countries are set per opportunity, and Terac publishes no overall list. Cashing out is not available in every country; Terac says you will see a message if it is not available in yours.
Is Terac legit?
Terac is a real company with public opportunities, published terms of service, a payout policy and a referral policy. That is what we can verify from the outside, and it is all we claim.
We have never done paid work on Terac. This page carries no testimonials and no payout stories, because we have none we could verify.
What we do not know
These are the questions we cannot answer yet.
- How much work there is. Most opportunities are single sessions. How often a given expert qualifies for a new one, we have no way to see.
- What a per-task rate means. Some listings pay per task; Terac's guide does not explain how tasks are counted.
- How long approval takes. Earnings become available once a submission is approved; the time to approval is not stated.
How we earn from this
This site is paid by referral programmes, and nothing else.
If you sign up to Terac through a link here, and a submission of yours is approved and paid, Terac pays this site a fee worth a share of those earnings, up to a cap. Nothing is paid for a click or a sign-up alone.
It never changes what you are paid, and it does not decide what appears here: we list every role we find, whether or not it earns us anything.
The rest of the mechanics, as Terac's terms set them out:
- A share, capped per person. Terac's policy sets the referral payment at 20% of a referred expert's approved earnings, up to a maximum per referral. The cap is fixed when you sign up. Terac pays it from its own referral programme; it is never taken from your pay.
- Credit requires the link at sign-up. The referral link has to be used when you create your account, and only new accounts count.
- Referrers have Terac accounts. Any expert with a Terac account can refer. We hold no special status.
- Terac controls the programme. It may change commission rates, change the cap, update the terms or suspend the programme, and may end a referrer's participation.
What happens when you apply
The apply button sits on each role page, never on a page meant to be shared. Pressing it sends you
through our own /go/ redirect, which records that a role was clicked (no cookie, no
personal data) and then on to Terac.
Terac's referral link does not open a single opportunity. The button takes you to Terac through our link; find the opportunity by name on Terac from there. Sign up through the link for the referral to count.
Checked . The list is rebuilt every morning; roles that disappear from Terac are marked closed rather than deleted. Read the full disclosure and who runs this.
